What is Adult Foster Care?
AFC is a program funded through Senior Care Options (SCO) plans that allows adults who need daily assistance to live with caregivers in a safe home environment. Caregivers receive a tax-free stipend twice a month, while every client is supported by a Registered Nurse and Case Manager.

Adult Foster Care Requirements
To be eligible to serve as an Adult Foster Care caregiver in Massachusetts, an individual must meet the following qualifications
- Live in Massachusetts
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Reside in the same private home as the Adult Foster Care member
- Be capable of providing 24-hour supervision and assistance, either personally or with approved backup support
- Be physically and mentally able to meet the care needs of the member
- Must be at least 16 years of age
- Needs 24-hour cueing, assistance, or supervision of ONE or more Activities of Daily Living
- Must have Senior Care Options
- Must live in a safe home environment
