About the Conference

Now in its twentieth year, this conference is the only women’s conference in the region led by and for immigrant women. It brought together women from diverse backgrounds and communities across Massachusetts to share stories, resources, and support under the theme “Women Building Transformation for Real Change.”

The event was organized by the Dominican Development Center, a Jamaica Plain-based organization dedicated to empowering immigrant communities throughout Massachusetts.

Dominican Development Center

Founded and directed by Magalis Troncoso, the DDC has championed immigrant women’s empowerment in Massachusetts for two decades.

Vitra at the Table

Vitra Health’s own Ivelisse had the opportunity to speak at the event and connect with attendees at our information table. She shared how Vitra’s Adult Foster Care program supports families across Massachusetts, particularly immigrant families who are already providing care to loved ones at home and may not know that financial support and clinical resources are available to them.

Many of the women in that room are caregivers in every sense of the word, for their families, their communities, and one another. Events like this one are where we belong.

Why This Work Matters

The conversations throughout the two days were a reminder of how many families are quietly providing care without the support they deserve. The Adult Foster Care program exists to change that. It recognizes caregiving as essential labor, provides training and clinical oversight, and offers financial compensation to family caregivers who are already showing up every day.

We’re grateful to Magalis Troncoso and the entire Dominican Development Center team for creating a space that centers the voices and experiences of immigrant women. We look forward to continuing this partnership.
