June is Alzheimer’s Awareness and Brain Health Month

Every year during the month of June, Alzheimer’s Awareness and Brain Health Month is observed. It is a special time to learn more about the importance of caring for our brains and supporting people living with Alzheimer’s disease.

The brain is the control center of our body. It helps us think, remember, learn, speak, make decisions, and carry out daily activities. That’s why it’s important to take care of it throughout our lives.

What Is Alzheimer’s Disease?

Alzheimer’s disease affects memory and other thinking skills. Over time, people living with Alzheimer’s may have difficulty remembering information, recognizing places, or completing tasks that were once simple.

Tips to keep your brain healthy include:

  • Reading book, magazines or stories
  • Learning something new
  • Solving puzzles
  • Playing board games
  • Listening to music
  • Drawing or doing crafts
  • Completing word searches
