Can I get paid to care for a family member or friend?
Yes, you may be eligible to receive bi-weekly tax-free payments
It depends on your situation, but many caregivers are eligible through a state-supported program. -
How do I know if I qualify for caregiver payments or support?
The person you’re caring for needs to be a Massachusetts resident that is at least 16 years old, living with a physical, cognitive, or behavioral impairment that is financially eligible for MassHealth.

Who is considered a caregiver?
If you help a family member or friend with daily tasks due to illness or disability, you’re likely a caregiver.
Even if it doesn’t feel like a job, what you do matters, and you might qualify for support.

What does Vitra do exactly?
We help you become a paid caregiver for your loved one.
We handle the paperwork, create a personalized care plan, and give you ongoing support from nurses and care managers.

Is there a cost to work with Vitra?
Nope, it’s totally free.
Vitra is funded by government programs, so there’s no cost to you.

Who can’t be a paid caregiver?
Spouses, legal guardians, and parents of minors can’t get paid through this program.
But someone else in the home might qualify. Call us at 508) 297-2022 and we’ll help figure it out.

Can I do this if I work or have other responsibilities?
Yes, depending on the program.
AFC requires live-in care for 21 hours a day, while GAFC is more flexible and allows for outside jobs.

Do I have to move in with the person I care for?
Only if you’re in the Adult Foster Care program.
For the GAFC program, you visit the person in their home each day instead.
